Breast Cancer Gene

-

The Breast Cancer Gene is an inherited DNA marker that can identify those women and men who are more likely to develop breast cancer. A blood test can determine if someone has this DNA marker or faulty gene in their body. BRCA1, BRCA2, TP53 or PTEN genes are the only breast cancer genes that can currently be tested for. A positive test does not mean someone will develop breast cancer, only that they have a higher risk than the general population to develop breast cancer.
