We've been there and we're here to help you.
We are survivors who have faced breast cancer, metastatic breast cancer, and ovarian cancer. We're here to provide emotional support and practical advice to you, your family and your friends.

About SHARE
We are breast and ovarian cancer survivors and we're here to help you. We know what it's like to have early stage, recurrent, and metastatic disease. If you've been diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer -- or if you simply want to know more about these diseases -- we can help.

Mission

SHARE's mission is to create and sustain a supportive network and community of women affected by breast or ovarian cancer. SHARE brings these women and their families and friends together with others who have experienced breast or ovarian cancer, and provides participants with the opportunity to receive and exchange information, support, strength and hope.

SHARE's work focuses on empowerment, education and advocacy to bring about better health care, an improved quality of life, and a cure for these diseases.

All Services are Free of Charge

Telephone Support

Call (866) 891-2392, and we can help you face the emotional and practical issues that come with breast or ovarian cancer. These are things like handling treatment side effects, talking to friends and family, dealing with insurance companies, or feeling weaker as chemotherapy progresses.

We can help you consider your options and give you advice about talking to your doctor. And we can give you support . . . based on our experience as survivors.

We'll also let you know what other services we provide that might help you, such as support groups and educational programs.

Brief History of SHARE
In 1976, Dr. Eugene Thiessen, a doctor specializing in breast cancer, thought that breast cancer survivors could support one another. He called together the first support group, and 12 women showed up. SHARE was born.

In 1978, the group incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization led by a small, dedicated staff and even more dedicated volunteers.

Over the years, this group expanded its outreach and developed new programs, helping thousands of women and men affected by these diseases. SHARE added hotlines and educational programs and began to advocate for legislation and funding to fight breast cancer.

LatinaSHARE was started in the late 1980s to provide support, information, education and advocacy opportunities for people who feel more comfortable communicating in Spanish.

SHARE began offering services for women dealing with ovarian cancer in 1995. SHARE has recently been expanding our services for women dealing with metastatic breast cancer, ensuring that survivors dealing with metastatic disease can get help from others who share their experiences.
