Proud to serve Southern New Mexico and West Texas in our Las Cruces Clinic

The UNM Cancer Center – Las Cruces opened in January, 2007, bringing expert doctors, radiologists, pharmacists and cancer specialists to the region. The UNM Cancer Center partners with Memorial Medical Center and Ikard Cancer Center and is located on the grounds of Memorial Medical Center.

The Las Cruces team is part of the UNM Cancer Center in Albuquerque. Our Las Cruces team has real-time access to more than 60 doctors in every cancer specialty using hard-wired computer links and shared diagnostic tools. Together, they design individualized treatment plans and deliver them in a compassionate, culturally sensitive way.

Our Las Cruces doctors also work with more than 110 researchers at the UNM Cancer Center in Albuquerque. That means patients in Southern New Mexico and West Texas have access to the newest drugs and clinical trials.

Proud to introduce our UNM Cancer Center –Las Cruces Team
Dr. Warren Alexander is the UNM Cancer Center - Las Cruces center clinical director. Dr. Alexander comes to us from the Army, most recently from The William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso where he was the chief of hematology oncology. Last year, he spent eight months in Iraq. Dr. Alexander has treated patients from all over the world, which gives him a broad range of clinical experience.
"The people in the Las Cruces area are happy to have us here," said Dr. Warren Alexander, one of the clinic's medical oncologists. "That's a comment we hear over and over again. People are glad to have access to everything the UNM Cancer Center --
Albuquerque has to offer without having to travel that far."

Denny Calhoun, Cowboys for Cancer Research Co-President, ropes cancer researchers Larry Sklar, PhD, from UNM Cancer Center and Jeffrey Arterburn, PhD, from NMSU. Proud of our partnerships to find a cure

The UNM Cancer Center – Las Cruces is proud to partner with Cowboys for Cancer Research and New Mexico State University to find a cure for breast cancer. In 2005, researchers from UNM and NMSU made a groundbreaking discovery regarding a new estrogen receptor. Since estrogen can increase cancer cell growth, the research is dramatically changing the way women’s cancers are diagnosed and treated.
