Campaign's grant application process
Campaign's Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) composed of prominent breast cancer experts ensures that the research the charity funds is of the highest calibre and will further our knowledge of breast cancer. Every grant applicant undergoes a rigorous six-month selection procedure, known as the peer review process.
The peer review process starts when an applicant submits a detailed project proposal, including costs, to Campaign. The proposal is then sent for evaluation to two or more SAB members and as many as eight recognised experts in the breast cancer field.
Campaign's SAB members have a wide variety of breast cancer research expertise. This ensures that each application will have an expert on the Board to critically review the work. The evaluations are returned to the charity for consideration by the SAB at its bi-annual meetings (in May and November). The SAB then recommend to the charity's Board of Trustees which projects should receive funding. Only those of the highest quality are chosen.
