Saint John's, through its collaborative relationships with leading physicians and research institutes, such as the John Wayne Cancer Institute, is a leader in cancer treatment and research. While Saint John's provides outstanding innovative care for patients afflicted with many types of cancer including cancer of the skin, breast, lungs, stomach, prostate, colon, and others, we never lose sight of the patient and their family.
From education, prevention, screening and detection to treatment, rehabilitation, support groups and follow-up, we offer patients the latest and most effective diagnostic and treatment options available, in a comforting, supportive environment.
Saint John's Department of Radiation Oncology is nationally renowned for providing cancer patients with the highest quality, most technically advanced radiation therapy treatments available to treat the whole range of common cancers. Our state-of-the-art radiation treatment equipment allows physicians to pinpoint the dose of radiation delivered anywhere in the body with greater precision than ever before, to further enhance the curative treatment of tumors and reduce side effects. Using this latest technology, called IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy), we can now treat cancer patients in as little as five minutes. Additional services in the radiation oncology department include options such as prostate seed implants, brachytherapy, 3-D conformal radiation, image guided radiation, partial breast irradiation and PET-CT treatment planning.
Saint John's offers cancer patients innovative and advanced treatments through partnership with leading physicians at the John Wayne Cancer Institute - developers of the Sentinel Node Technique.
The Breast Center is committed to addressing the complex needs of women's breast health, and is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic technology. To view a video of the Breast Center, click here for broadband or click here for dialup.
Housed at the Breast Center is The Positive Appearance Center. The first center of its kind in the United States, the Center addresses the cosmetic side effects and comfort needs of patients undergoing cancer treatment. An array of products and services are offered in a warm, supportive atmosphere where cancer patients receive personalized care.
Medical specialists in radiation oncology have pioneered procedures for prostate cancer, such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). Additional services in the radiation oncology department include options like external beam radiotherapy (photon and electron-superficial radiotherapy for cancers of the skin and radioactive implants for cancers of the prostate and others).
